"Although the Slayer's journey is over doesn't mean ours is. Through our great cooperation, we built the ground base to keep a closer eye on the squids. The Squid Slayer will return to the place she was built; in the first base - underground. It will take a long time for the squids to rebuild their army. It could be months; even years before the war starts again. But when that day comes, the fighters will be ready. We will train, we will fight, we will practice until our skills are needed once again. And I am certain that one day they will be.
"But for now, there is peace. Take advantage of this - all of you. Go home to your families and your friends. This will be the last time I address all over you all for a long time, recruits. I wish you all well. My name's Sky, and I will see you later, Recruits." Sky started to leave to front of the Great Hall.
"That's it?!" One of the recruits shouted.
Sky smiled at the recruits assembled and stepped back on the podium.
"Alright, you want me to talk more?" Each of the recruits cheered. "Alright, alright..." Sky hesitated. Then he caught Jordan's glance. He smiled as it sparked an idea. He began to sing.
"There are plenty of ore in Minecraft. Diamond, coal, Lapis, and more. But alas there is one that stands among the rest!
One that’s so simple it’s truly the BEST!"
At that point, Ty and Jason both started to sing along, even if they were both a bit off key.
"An ore so amazing, it's Sky Army’s crest!" The rest of the leaders joined in too, including little Kevin.
"I bet by all on now all of you have guessed."
Finally, all the recruits and all the leaders all sung along, holding up their swords and proclaiming it to the world what they stood for.
"It’s butter, its the butter ore!
It’s butter, its the butter ore!
It’s butter, its the butter ore!
It’s butter, its the butter ore!"
The song ended, and as the recruits cheered, Sky said one final thing to his recruits.
"WE ARE THE SKY ARMY AND WE WILL ALWAYS FIGHT!" The recruits cheered louder, and the leaders did as well, all holding up their gold swords and screaming like they didn't care that their voices would be gone tomorrow. Sky smiled and left the great hall. The recruits remained in the great hall, celebrating their victory for several minutes after Sky left before leaving for their homes.
Sky was greeted by the other leaders as he stepped off of the podium, all of them speaking excitedly, patting his back, smiling, laughing. Sky just smiled back, not sure what to say.
"Sky, I'm gonna go make sure everyone's off the Slayer." Ty said.
Sky nodded. "Just be careful."
"I'll be fine." Ty climbed back onto the Slayer and walked quickly through the halls, looking around. "Hello?" He called. "Anyone here?"
No response. He shrugged and started to head back the way he'd come, but as he turned around, a recruit stopped and turned to look at him with a startle expression on her face.
She smiled. "Oh! I'm sorry, General, I was just on my way out!" She had long, dark brown hair and wore a short sleeved, purple shirt and black pants.
Ty smiled. "I'm not your superior officer anymore, call me Ty."
"Alright then, Ty, my name's Jocelyn." She held out a hand. Ty smiled and shook it.
"Is better go. My family is expecting me. Later!" Jocelyn ran out of the Slayer. Ty hesitated a moment before following.
Sky, Jason, and Ty stood over the edge of the hole. Deep inside it was the Slayer. She was grounded. All the recruits had gotten off and gone home. All but the leaders and a few stragglers.
The two Generals and the Commander watched in silence as the ground closed around it, obscuring it from view.
Sky stood up and glanced at Ty and Jason in turn.
"Well... Now what?" He asked.
Ty remembered Enderlox's worlds. "Sky... Have you ever thought that maybe we could try making other people happy since they don't need any more protection?"
"Well yeah, but how?" Jason asked.
"Maybe we could try using our PCDs and teleporters." Sky said. He smiled. "And those cameras that Seth made to put in our PCDs. Maybe we could make videos or something!"
"Of what?" Ty asked.
"Of all sorts of things! Like... Like us doing normal minecraft things but in funny ways!" Sky said.
Ty smiled. "I like it."
"Me too." Jason agreed.
"Hey Sky?" Sky turned to see Jordan and Ethan approaching. "We were thinking about what would happen to the Explorer now that the war is over, and I figured that she could be used to keep an eye on the squids from the sea and report if they look like they're gonna strike."
"So you're telling me you and your crew are leaving." Sky said.
Jordan smiled. "Not me." He said. "I explained to my crew that I wouldn't be their captain anymore, and you will never believe who stepped up to take my place."
"Who?" Ty asked.
Sky's eyes widened. "YOU, Ethan?" He asked incredulously. Ethan nodded. "But how will you be able to tell the crew what to do?"
"Well, he's gonna have one hell of a first officer." Tasha said, crossing her arms.
Jason raised one eyebrow. "Who?"
She smiled. "Yours truly."
"What?" Jason asked. "You're leaving?"
Tasha smiled grimly. "We both know its the right thing to do. I'd never be comfortable settling down. I need to go and fight and protect Minecraftia. But I promise I'll visit."
"But you can stay for at least a few videos, right?" Sky asked.
Ethan shrugged and nodded.
"I have to prepare the ship for the journey." Tasha said. "And Kevin will be coming with us as well."
"Really?" Ty asked.
"He said he wanted to learn to fight like me." Jordan said with a shrug. "And I thought... where better to learn to fight like me than where I learned?"
Sky smiled. He started to walk away from the Slayer's resting place. The other leaders and the remaining senior recruits followed.
"Y'know, I heard that Bodil was building a parkour map." Ty said.
"Is that why he didn't show up to help fix the ship?" Sky asked.
Ty shrugged. "I guess so."
Sky smiled and hesitated. "Now that the war is over... What are you guys planning on doing?"
"I'm getting together with a few friends and we're going to do some Machinimas." Aviator said. "Maybe you could join us sometime, Sky."
Sky laughed. "Yeah, maybe."
"Bajan and I are going to start doing this thing that they're doing in villages now called the Hunger Deans or something. It looks like a lot of fun!" Jerome said.
"It's the Hunger GAMES." Bajan corrected.
"That's what I said! The Hunger Deans!" Jerome replied. Bajan rolled his eyes.
"I think I might try that, too." Ant said. "It looks kinda fun."
"I'm moving out to the jungle. I'm gonna build an oasis there and record the whole thing!" Cupquake said excitedly.
"I'm going to the jungle too." Jordan said. "I'll try building a house... Maybe in a tree or something."
"Y'know, I heard from Lewis that Thalia's gotten herself obsessed with writing and she's really interested in our story." Jason said.
Sky laughed. "I'm not surprised."
"Yeah, and he and Simon are going to start working at this science lab they named the YogLabs to try to learn more about Israphel."
"I hope that goes well." Ty said.
No one in the group spoke for a while.
"You know... I've been thinking..." Sky began. "Calling ourselves 'fighters' is getting to be kinda boring. I think we need a new name."
"Really? Like what?" Ty asked.
Sky shrugged. "I have no clue. I'll come up with something."
"Well, I named mine the Dead Army." Ty said.
"And Tasha designated mine as the Minecraft Universe stars." Jason said.
Sky smiled. "Then how about... The Sky Army?"
Ty laughed. "Y'know, Sky, that kinda fits!"
"You think so?"
"Yeah, I do."
Sky and Dawn exchanged smiles.
"Maybe we should come up with names..." Dawn said. "Sorta like codes."
"I've got one! I'll be... Kermitplaysmc."
"XxRPMX13." That got the recruit in the batman costume a couple funny looks, but Ant continued on.
Sky hesitated. Then he smiled. "How about... Skydoesminecraft?"
Ty and Jason exchanged amused glances.
"That sounds about right." Jason said.
Sky smiled and placed an arm around each of his friend's shoulders. "You know guys... I bet we'll make a pretty great team."
Ty and Jason just smiled.
The group of twenty all walked towards the setting sun together in silence, until finally, their dark shapes disappeared into the bright light.
The war may have been won, but the journey was nowhere near over.
This was only the beginning.
The beginning of the Sky Army.
END OF SKY ARMY BEGINS
