“Time… The sands of time are wearing thin. I need more time… But how? I haven’t any more. I need more time! But I haven’t got any. What do I do? What can I do? I don’t have any alternatives; no more escape routes. My friends are gone. I’m all alone. So what do I do? Nothing…” Simon looked up. He sat back on his heels. “I’m finished. I’m done. I give up.” He tossed his screwdriver across the room and looked up around the dark room. “You hear me?” He called. “I give up!” Simon lowered his head. “I give up…” He whispered.

“Oh, that’s not the dwarf I know.” A voice called from out of sight. Simon’s eyes flew open. There was a short pause before the voice spoke again. “The dwarf I know would keep going no matter what because he never stopped long enough to think if it was a bad idea or not. He’d spit in the face of impossible odds and go on whatever he had to succeed even if there was virtually no chance whatsoever. What happened to that dwarf?”

Simon looked up and saw a silhouette of a figure standing in the shadows of the small room they were in. He could make much out of him, but he could make out some bright-colored trench coat and a smirk. He scowled and looked away. “Oh, you bastard…”

The man laughed. “Now that’s the dwarf I know…”

It's been awhile since I started a new story... Started running out of things to write XD

Hmm, sounds ever so slightly like Sherlock here. Slightly.
